The bio-plastics and eggshell mixtures used in my artwork are bio-based materials that tend to distort based on their surroundings and are capable of decomposing in nature.
Bio-Plasitcs
Biodegradable plastics.
They can be made from three ingredients: agar, water, and glycerol.
Eggshell mixture
Biodegradable.
Made from eggshell, water, and algin(a type of seaweed)
BIO-PLASTICS DECOMPOSITION
바이오 플라스틱 분해

Son-mat: The Artist’s Touch
The term Son-mat refers to the unique flavor that emerges from the hands of the person preparing a dish. I believe this applies to art as well; even with the same materials, a distinct touch creates a different depth of flavor.
I take a different approach when cooking versus baking.
When cooking, I prefer to rely on instinct and personal taste rather than calculating exact measurements.
After all, the size of a "large spoon" varies from house to house.
But with baking, if the temperature and weight are not matched exactly, the result is something entirely unfamiliar and strange.
In creating the "mixtures" that form the base of my work, I navigate between these two methods.
The base is meticulously weighed with a scale,
while additional components are added freely, entrusted to my hands.
The process of dissolving agar powder in water mirrors the making of Yanggaeng, resembling the way flour is folded into an egg mixture until the powder gradually disappears.
We create food by preparing and cooking ingredients.
If we ate only to satisfy hunger,
the culinary arts would never have evolved to this level.
The pursuit of "taste" applies equally to art.
We search for a novelty we have never tasted, or we seek to rediscover a flavor we already know.
An unintended outcome may emerge from a single mistake.
Through repeated experimentation, I hope to discover a truly satisfying, savory recipe of my own.
