My Fallen Remains

2023, 달걀과 게 껍데기 가루 혼합물, 가변 크기

12cm부터 151cm까지 크고 작은 조형물이 바닥에 띄엄띄엄 놓여있다. 모든 조형물은 달걀 껍데기, 알긴산 가루와 물로 만들어졌다. 조형물의 두께는 1~5mm 정도로 얇다. 각 조형물은 앞뒤 관계없이 수직, 수평으로 놓여있다. 한쪽 면은 거칠고, 다른 면은 비교적 매끈하다. 몇몇은 완만하게 구부러지거나 말려있다. 작품은 대체로 달걀 껍데기 안쪽과 비슷한 하얀색이며, 곳곳에 푸른 빛이 섞여 있다.

Sculptures are scattered across the floor, ranging from 12cm to 151cm in size and 1-5mm thick. They are made from a few ingredients: water, egg, and crab shells. Each sculpture is positioned either vertically or horizontally, without a fixed orientation. One side appears rough and uneven, while the other side is relatively smooth. Some sculptures feature gentle curves. The artworks exhibit an off-white color reminiscent of the inside of an eggshell, with light blue spots.

알맹이 없는 껍질은 아무런 목적이 없다.
알맹이에 무슨 일이 일어났는지 알 수 없다.

어디서 왔는지 모를 껍데기는 갈라지고 구멍이 군데군데 나 있다.

움켜쥐면 손쉽게 바스러질 것 같은 껍질이 지금 내 눈앞에 있다.
그런데 무기력하지도, 딱히 도움이 필요하지도 않은 것 같다.
그 자체로 충분해 보인다.
그냥 그곳에 가만히 자리하고 있다.

왜인지 더 가까이 다가갈 수 없다.
